elmina gold riposite

Elmina mystery gold 'miners' angry over quit order

Residents of Elmina in the Central Region are remonstrating against an order from the Minerals Commission for disallowing the collection gold chunks washed ashore at the Elmina beach..                                                          Their joys turned sour from a week of an unanticipated riposte of gold after the Minerals Commission ordered them to vacate the new gold site.

By law minerals of any kind belong to the state and cannot be exploited by any individual in whom no such rights have been vested. The resource is to be used for the collective development of the country. Any individual with vested interest in exploiting any mineral must seek approval from the appropriate state institution.

But residents disapproved the statement made and are
blasé about the order. They have virtually camped out  at the beach disinterring and darting  for more gold
Threats of security deployment in the area to stop them from darting more gold have sent them onto the streets in anger and protesting.

Joy News Central Region correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko said the angry protesters marched unto the streets to the chief, Nana Kojo Konduah VI’s palace seeking his approval for them to continue with their new business.

A spokesperson [linguist] for the chief, told Nyarko, the protesters have been calmed.

According to the linguists the chief made it clear to the angry protesters that he [chief] had no power to tell anybody to prospect for gold at the Elmina beach.

The protesters, according to Nyarko, are beginning to vacate the beach, more so when national security is beginning to deploy men.

Lands and Natural resources Minister, Mike Hammer, said samples of the nuggets have been taken for examination to see if they are natural and authentic. He said early next week his ministry would release the outcome of the examination.

According to Mike Hammer, there would also be the education of the people on the mining law. He described the action by the residents as unfortunate with a potential to devastate the shore.

Government Standings

Its  amazing to know how most Ghanians often think of government as the ruling party in cabinet and alienate the opposition parties as well as themselves. They often forget that their power by virtue of their thump gave the ruling cabinet power.
And in any case the opposition parties always take advantage of  the ignorance of the people to give excuses of not  getting a fair quota of the national cake to develop their communities very well . However when there are eventualities these same opposition members will donate massively to help victims but will not do same to prevent such attacks.
Its so interesting the to know the standings of Ghanian politics now its like a debate no! more of  I stand FOR  or AGAINST this motion. May God himself liberate us form this psychological bondage via eradicating illiteracy from this beautiful nation .

reliance

It is disheartening to hear fellow Ghanaians complain  and ask for governmental intervention anytime given the opportunity when facing a their individual problems such as being evicted from their homes because the houses are built on roads or because the land they are occupying has an right owner, It could also be that parents need money for the treatment of an aliment of their ward or any other predicament . The most mind boggling part of the whole show is when chiefs of towns endowed with rich mineral resources seek government's aid to develop their communities while they are the overlords of their lands and have been chosen to mobilise their youths to develop their communities
Fine lets face facts, everybody in Ghana pays taxes citizen or not, directly and indirectly; government is also directly responsible for each person citizen or non-citizen to make  life comfortable and better for us but gone are the days of manner raining from above directly or better still the days of  NNkrumah when our population was just a handful, we should  know that we are in another era where each person is to strife for him/herself to making it in life.
Perfect governance is not only achieved by the president and his officials but through participation by everyone citizen or not. The only true remedy for the countless problems and challenges of our dear nation is collective responsibility by us ;because we make up the govt (government for the people by the people and of the people
