With its priority to
help reduce drastically or curb the volume of both vehicular and human traffic in the absence or not of the traffic light, ICT stands a better chance of making this objective reachable hence offloading stress off personnel.
Our traffic lights in this era need not be in a fixed
program mode. The traffic lights, especially ones on the highways and traffic dominated areas ought to be reprogrammed. From a remote location, one can study traffic dynamics using cameras or feedback from reliable sources such as the MTTU. The traffic lights at these affected sites can then be reprogrammed to allow longer moving time for the side with worse traffic.
If this seems so advanced, we can begin by studying traffic situations on our roads. A lucid instance is the heavy traffic towards Accra from areas such as Nungua, Spintex Road Tema and its environs and vice versa.Here the traffic lights should be reprogrammed for more flow of vehicles moving towards accra in the evenings. 
This is not rocket science and can easily be done. It is as simple as sending and receiving emails or text messages. Besides being faster and inexpensive, it is reachable than constructing roads which are good but don't do much to avert the problem. Since most road projects always fail to reach their stipulated deadline. And interesting enough, by the time of completion of these the "never ending" roads the design outlives its purpose.
